~ French Antique Wedding Flower Crown Napoleon III Era ~
Utterly divine marriage cushion, also known as Globe d' Mariee (sans globe in this instance!). Displays a small exquisite bridal floral wax head-dress and a lovely porcelain figure of the Virgin Mary. This piece is from the Napoleon III era, circa 1880. The stand has lovely ornamentation, including mirrors, urns, gilt vine leaves, gilt flowers, gilt panels, and a bird carrying a coronet, set upon a red velvet cushion. These cushions are so romantic and decorative, but are now very expensive, and difficult to find... especially with the wax crown in such good condition. Truly a star piece! Symbolism for some of the elements: A mirror was added with each child, other elements refer to fidelity, fertility, faithfulness and love. The condition is excellent with a lovely old patina. There is one very fine tear in the metal of 1/4", between and behind a few gold leaves. It isn't noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of this piece. A few little flowers may fall off in transit ,as they are very old and fragile. However, statue and wax crown will be removed and wrapped individually for safe shipping. Insurance is included in the shipping price of this item (USA only). 19.5" high x 12.5" wide. Please feel free to contact us for additional photos.
